We are developing the first major exploratorium and museum in the United Kingdom dedicated to mathematics.
Mathematics is one of the most important human activities in the modern world. Mathematical thinking and its accumulated body of knowledge underpins society, with visible impact on our technological and scientific development.
Our centre will provide people with the chance to learn about humans’ unique ability to do mathematics, the role placed by mathematics in our culture and the opportunity to experience mathematical discovery for themselves. The centre aims to bring to the layperson mathematics that goes beyond sums, explain how mathematics has shaped our civilisation, as well as helping celebrate key people in the history of mathematics. It will be hands-on, dynamic, thought provoking, leaving children and adults alike with a sense of the wonder and power of mathematics.
