Introducing Dr James Grime – MathsWorldUK tour manager

We are pleased to announce that Dr James Grime is our new Touring Exhibition Manager! James has been working in maths communication since 2008. He runs The Enigma Project, about the history and mathematics of code breaking which visits schools and festivals around the world. He is mostly known for his YouTube videos including Numberphile which now has over pi-million subscribers. James will be responsible for the day to day management of the tour including booking the locations for the exhibition so if you want to host the exhibition (for at least 3 weeks) then email James on: admin@www.mathsworlduk.com

Maths Miniatures 2019

In 2020 the Maths Miniatures competition did not go ahead due to the coronavirus restrictions. In 2019 we collaborated with the University of Leeds, United Kingdom Mathematics Trust and IMO2019 Ltd to run our annual short film competition for schools. The theme was Mathematics in Sport and students aged 11-18 across the UK were challenged to work in small teams to produce a 3 minute video exploring this topic and communicating the mathematics involved. Matched Funding Appeal

We've raised £105,000 in the past year towards our aim of creating the UK's first mathematics discovery centre! Its almost time to celebrate as we can now start building our touring exhibition. We have a matched funding offer for donations up to a total of £125,000. We are now within only £20,000 of this. We are so grateful to the many supporters of MathsWorldUK who have helped us to come so far. If you can help us reach the magic total of £125000 then please click on our donate button. Hannah Fry is awarded 2018 Christopher Zeeman Medal

The Councils of the IMA and the LMS have awarded the 2018 Christopher Zeeman Medal to Dr Hannah Fry of University College London for her outstanding contributions to the public understanding of the mathematical sciences. Hannah Fry is a Senior Lecturer in the mathematics of cities at UCL and an honorary lecturer in the UCL Mathematics Department. Her podcast series The Curious Cases of Rutherford and Fry regularly broadcasts to over one million per episode on Radio 4 and has reached the top few places in the UK podcast charts.
