Northern Powerhouse

We have become a member of the government’s Northern Powerhouse Partner Programme.

The appointment is recognition of the contribution that mathematics makes to the economy in all sectors and is recognition that mathematics skills will play a vital role in the development of employment opportunities for people in the region.

MathsWorldUK aims to establish the UK’s first Mathematics Discovery Centre. With this centre MathsWorldUK seeks to improve the UK’s cultural attitude to maths showing the full joy, wonder and power of the subject.

Dr Chicot, CEO of MathsWorldUK, said:

“It is well known that we have a wide maths skills gap in this country and that a lack of maths confidence greatly restricts a person’s life choices. We are pleased to be investing in the regions mathematics skills alongside the Northern Powerhouse.”

Minister for the Northern Powerhouse, the Rt Hon Jake Berry, MP said:

“I am delighted to welcome the charity MathsWorldUK to our Partner Programme of over 300 businesses across the Northern Powerhouse. Their ambitious plans to build the UK’s first Mathematics Discovery Centre in the North supports our vision to level up the region through £694 million of Local Growth Fund investment.”
