Having started his working life in banking, Ian went on to read Geography at Sheffield University.  During his time there he volunteered as a student tutor and was despatched to two separate schools to support young people in their study of GCSE mathematics.  On leaving Sheffield, Ian spent some time working for KPMG in their audit department before deciding on a move to Sainsbury’s where he ultimately worked in a number of finance functions and became a Chartered Management Accountant.

Since moving to the University of East Anglia in 2005, Ian has held many roles and is currently the Registrar and Secretary having previously worked as Director of Finance and Planning.

Away from the University, Ian has a range of interests many of them focussed on charities supporting young people.  He is Treasurer to a number of charities and groups.
